AMANDA HERN- Registered Psychotherapist & Clinical Director

Hi, I'm so glad you're here!

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), as well as a member in good standing with the Ontario Association for Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP). I hold a Bachelor's degree with honours in Psychology from the University of Guelph, as well as a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Yorkville University. I have over seven years of experience in various mental health fields, primarily working with adults with comorbid mental health concerns as well as individuals of marginalized, vulnerable populations.

From a very young age, I knew I wanted to help others and advocate for the importance of addressing and treating mental health, just as we do our physical health. A quote which has resonated with me throughout my childhood, studies and careers is "be who you needed when you were younger" — this quote helps serve as an important reminder and guide through my therapeutic relationships.

I work from a very client-centered, eclectic, biopsychosocial approach and incorporate a variety of therapeutic modalities to best meet and support the needs and goals of each individual client and help me to truly empathize and hold space for clients- meeting you where you are at.

But why work with ME?

  • I recently completed  Dr. Abi Blakeslee's Intensive Somatic Trauma Therapy Certificate Course
  • I genuinely care about a lot of things- especially my clients!
  • I prioritize providing my clients with a safe, secure, nurturing relationship
  • I have a pretty decent sense of humour and am a fan of dark/dry humour (when appropriate!)
  • I really do understand the millennial struggles- I see you
  • Huge animal and nature lover
  • Adult child of divorce & of a parent with addiction
  • Lived experience with trauma, mental health challenges, and chronic illness
  • Committed to on-going learning and professional development
  • Trauma survivor- Breaking cycles alongside you!

I'm here to help!

I feel truly honoured and privileged to assist people in navigating the stormy waters they may find themselves in, throughout various points of their lives. I have certainly navigated and continue to navigate the storms of life myself.  I aim to always be a safe, supportive, uplifting person and to help clients gain greater self-awareness and emotional regulation skills, develop coping tools/strategies, and to build healthier relationships with themselves, and others.

Helping others transform and reframe their issues and struggles into life-enhancing opportunities and personal growth is my passion. We often forget that being truly heard and listened to can be such a cathartic and powerful experience. I strive towards making every client feel truly heard, valued, honoured and empowered, by holding space for you to share openly and honestly. I look forward to working together to help you achieve your goals and lead a more fulfilling, happier, healthier life —one day at a time!
