My name is Marcy and I’m a licensed social worker that completed my Undergraduate degree at

Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) many moons ago. I have had the privilege

and honour of working in this field for over 25 years. I’ve worked in the public sector in various

community settings – I’ve supported client’s with various issues, some of which include– substance use, family breakdown, parenting challenges, and trauma. Most of my career has been providing front line services – which has been my passion.

In the last 5 years I’ve shifted to managing a treatment program and outreach team providing programs and services to pregnant and parenting client’s that have substance use and mental health challenges. I’m currently pursuing my Masters degree in Social Work at the University of Waterloo – and yes – you’re never too old to learn!

My approach is deeply informed by a person-centered lens, following a strengths-based initial

focus, and with a belief that client’s are the experts in their own lives. I have training in many

modalities - Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational

Interviewing and Narrative Therapy. I choose each approach with care, ensuring that the client's I work with are met with respect, compassion, and the support they need on their journey to

healing and recovery.

I’ve benefited greatly from having my own therapy both individual and marriage (yes, an intimate partnership takes a lot of work!). It’s been the best gift I can give my client’s – I too continue to work on the issues that life sends our way.

In my downtime, I enjoy activities like hiking, running, biking and walking. I also feel a profound

connection to the land, where I find healing and transformation through activities like hiking,

biking, and walking—nature is a source of renewal for me.
